Sugar Cookies!
In my family, we can never go wrong with baking a batch of homemade sugar cookies. It’s a fun way for us to bond and just enjoy a simple and easy-to-make dessert. My family and I have been making homemade sugar cookies since I was a little girl. It has always been a favorite of mine, especially during holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. You can never go wrong with making your own icing for the cookies. This was something I left my mom to handle. It took lots of time and patience and as a kid, of course I just wanted to get to the "eating the delicious cookie" part! I would like to share some information about the history of Sugar Cookies… enjoy!
The History
My mom's Sugar cookies are made from sugar, flower, butter, eggs, vanilla, and either brown sugar, and baking soda. They may be formed by hand or rolled and cut into shapes. Sugar cookies are commonly decorated with frosting, sprinkles, or a combination of both. The earliest cookie-style cakes were dated back to the 7th century, in Persia, not known as Iran. They were one of the fist countries to cultivate sugar and pastries in large and small versions, according to whatscookingamerica.com- Cookie History. This website shared that sugar was created in either the lowlands of Bengal or elsewhere in Southeast Asia.
