I was unable to participate in the class trip to Yellow Springs, so my family and I decided to dine at P.F. Changs. Here’s a little history about the restaurant:
The Founder
P.F. Changs was founded in 1993 by Paul Fleming and Chef Phillip Chiang.
According to FundingUniverse.com, P.F. Chang's China Bistro Inc. History, the first restaurant was opened at Scottsdale Fashion Square, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Paul Fleming developed a soft spot for Chinese food and decided to create a chain of Chinese restaurants, 189 to be exact, located in 39 states. He paired oriental cuisine with American style service and modern styling.
The Atmosphere
When going to P.F. Changs, we were greeted so kindly. The
atmosphere was very home feely; music was playing, sports were on the
televisions, people were laughing and just having a good time. Every server we encountered greeted us with a “Hi, how are you?" which made us feel comfortable and relaxed. As I sat there waiting for my food, I couldn’t help but to take in the scenery I was surrounded by. P.F. Changs has low lighting, but enough lighting to feel comfortable and relaxed; it displays motifs from the Ming and T’ang Dynasties and hand-painted murals throughout the restaurant. We didn't have to wait for seating, but the waiting area was nicely decorated with leather seating and lots of natural light. The decor throughout the restaurant was well balanced and tasteful. Although, it has a classy atmosphere, it has a very relaxed environment. The bar was discreate which was nice and can be easily overlooked by younger children. At P.F. Changs, you can dine in style or be casual and that's great when eating on a budget.

The Experience
This restaurant offers a high level of customer service and the staff is educated in cuisines, listed in the menus. The servers are willing to help you decide what to try from the different varities that are offered on the menu. P.F. Changs doesn't have an extensive list of choices like traditional chinese restaurants, but they have the things that I enjoy. Living on a budget, I enjoy P.F. Changs dishes because they are moderately priced, and happens to be one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always amazing! I’m pretty sure it’s the sauce they throw into the stir fry; it’s very tangy. It gives the meal the exact taste you’re looking for! Now on to the next! Can’t have a meal like that without finishing it off with some dessert! We ordered a six-layered chocolate cake, which was big enough for all three of us to share! Pretty awesome, right?
Family
As we sat there waiting for the bill, I took in the scenery once again and realized that this is what food is all about. It’s about sharing moments like this with people you love the most. At that particular time, I didn’t care what situations I was facing in life. I was just enjoying
the moment in time, with the people who mattered most.
